== Footnotes == # Each finding is grounded in an evaluation of underlying evidence and agreement. The summary terms for evidence are: limited, medium or robust. For agreement, they are low, medium or high. In many cases, a synthesis of evidence and agreement supports an assignment of confidence. A level of confidence is expressed using five qualifiers: very low, low, medium, high and very high, and typeset in italics, e.g., medium confidence. The following terms have been used to indicate the assessed likelihood of an outcome or a result: virtually certain 99โ100% probability, very likely 90โ100%, likely 66โ100%, about as likely as not 33โ66%, unlikely 0โ33%, very unlikely 0โ10%, exceptionally unlikely 0โ1%. Additional terms (extremely likely 95โ100%, more likely than not >50โ100%, more unlikely than likely 0โ<50%, extremely unlikely 0โ5%) may also be used when appropriate. Assessed likelihood is typeset in italics, e.g., very likely. This Report also uses the term โlikely rangeโ or โvery likely rangeโ to indicate that the assessed likelihood of an outcome lies within the 17โ83% or 5โ95% probability range. For more details see Chapter 1, Section 1.9.2 and Figure 1.4. # Antarctic sea ice is not shown here due to low confidence in future projections. {3.2.2} # Marginal seas are not assessed individually as ocean regions in this report. # NPP is estimated from the Coupled Models Intercomparison Project 5 (CMIP5). # Total animal biomass is from the Fisheries and Marine Ecosystem Models Intercomparison Project (FISHMIP). # Projections for ice sheets and glaciers in the polar regions are summarized in Chapters 4 and 2, respectively. # Statements about uncertainty in Section 4.2 are contingent upon the RCP or other emissions assumptions that accompany them. In Section 4.4, the entirety of information facing a decision maker is taken into consideration, including the unknown path of future emissions, in assessing uncertainty. Depending on which perspective is chosen, uncertainty may or may not be characterised as โdeepโ.
